Gargoyles were originally designed as water spouts to preserve a building's masonry, therefore many consider them to be symbols of protection.

This vintage stickpin (circa 1920-1930) features a gargoyle of 14k gold, clutching a diamond in its teeth and displaying two tiny red glass cabochon eyes.

The gargoyle measures 0.55 inches by 0.5 inches wide, and the total length of the stickpin is 2.5 inches. It is in excellent condition.
