American Vintage Diamond & Enamel Ladybug Brooch by Peter Lindeman, composed of 18k yellow gold. With 10 Round Brilliant Cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.50 carats in total. Diamonds are bezel-set in gold, set upon the red and black enamel top to the brooch; the wings of the ladybug move slightly. The brooch measures approximately 1 1/8″ wide by 1″ tall and weighs 13.6 grams. Signed for Lindeman; American origin. Circa 1950’s.

-- Peter Lindeman was born in Germany and grew up in Uruguay, where he began his career in jewelry apprenticing with a European firm. By 1947, Lindeman moved to New York at 17 years old and found work with a few high-end jewelers. After working for several years, he began designing and in 1955 he created his signature maker’s mark (a teardrop with an “L”) which helped him promote his creations under his own name. His designs sold well and his workshop began making pieces for notable wholesale clients such as Tiffany & Co amongst others.
